Flannel Fleece VS Coral Fleece

What Yarn To Use

GSM

For Flannel Fleece and Coral Fleece heavier than 250gsm (For information on gsm, click here), we normally use 150D/288F DTY as the main yarn. For that lighter than250gsm, we normally use 120D/192F DTY.

Pile Height

GSM being the same, the longer pile height, the more likely that 120D/192F will be used instead of 150D/288F.

Shine

The normal coral and Flannel Fleece widely use semi dull polyester yarns. The end effect will decide which yarn to use for shine, full dull or semi dull yarn.

Deciding Factor: Finishing

Even using the same semi dull yarns, we can produce Coral or Flannel Fleece. The reason is that the deciding factor is the finishing process. Others being the same, Flannel Fleece goes through more finishing in the natural lustre finishing machine. Thus compared to Coral Fleece, Flannel Fleece looks more shining and feels softer and more smooth.

Uses

Flannel Fleece is more widely used now for pajamas, leisure wear and blankets. Coral Fleece is now developed with water-absorbant function, and is more used for bath robes, cleaning cloth, hair towel etc.

Price

Flannel Fleece is a bit more expensive than Coral Fleece, since it requires one more step of finishing. But Coral Fleece with water-absorbant function is more expensive than Flannel Fleece because it contains the more expensive nylon.

One More Thing

For Joy Fabric, we think the more expensive fabric is not necessarily better. What's most suitable is the best fabric to use. If you are in doubt, feel free to contact us here.
